Tour Plan
We begin our 2 day Marrakech sahara desert tour in M'hamid, driving through the scenic High Atlas mountains (2260m) and its breathtaking scenery, and through the Draa Valley, crossing the second pass, Tizi N'Tnifift at 1710m, and the former route of caravans for Sahara traders coming from "Tombouktou". On our trip to Zagora, we will have the opportunity to visit the largest palm grove. Before arriving in Mhamid, we will stop to visit the underground kasbah and Koran library of old Tamegroute before spending the night in nomad tents at a Berber camp in the Erg Lihoudi sand dunes.
Awake early to experience the dawn over the dunes, followed by a traditional bivouac breakfast. Return by camel to our 4WD vehicle at Mhamid, where we will drive through the Draa valley to Agdz, exploring the hidden beauties of the Southern region. The journey continues to ait benhaddou hamlet, a fortified Ksar with lovely Kasbahs. We'll go there and eat at a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, we return to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains, arriving approximately 6:00 PM.
