In the morning, go from Marrakech on an exciting drive over the spectacular High Atlas mountains via the scenic Tizi n'Tichka pass, reaching an altitude of 2260m. The intriguing Ait Benhaddou town, famous for its walled ksar and exquisite Kasbahs, is our first stop. This old landmark has acted as a natural background for a number of film productions, which adds to its charm.
After a great lunch, we carry on to Dades, passing via the intriguing city of Ouarzazate, Skoura's palm plantations, and the lovely Valley of Roses. We will spend our first night in Dades, giving you the opportunity to recuperate and immerse yourself in the wonderful surroundings. Following a delicious breakfast, we continue on an interactive journey of Zagora and its enchanting environs, including the beautiful Jewish neighborhood in Amzerou and the green palm groves. We continue our trek towards Mhamid, the enthralling doorway to the Sahara Desert.
On the way, we stop in Tamgroute, a historic town that dates back to the legendary Saadian dynasty of the 16th century. Here, we may visit an ancient Quran library and explore a subterranean kasbah, immersing oneself in the region's rich past. When we get at Mhamid, we see the end of the Draa valley and civilization, and a traditional Moroccan café greets us for a delicious meal. Following that, an off-road journey takes us to the lovely Erg Chegaga Desert.
When we get in the dunes, we are in for a magical experience as we ride camels to enjoy the splendor of the sunset. As night falls, we find ourselves in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the grandeur of the desert, where a memorable camp and a delectable dinner await us. Join us on this extraordinary tour, where every minute is planned to immerse you in the beauty and allure of the Sahara, leaving you with cherished memories to last a lifetime.
After a substantial breakfast, we continue our journey through the magnificent views of the natural dry lake of Iriqui and the striking fields of black stones. Following the asphalted road towards the picturesque town of Foum Zguid, we continue our trip. We stop in Taznakht, which is known as one of the kingdom's main centers for magnificent Berber carpets. We get the opportunity to visit a cooperative where skilled women from surrounding villages create these stunning carpets, showcasing the region's rich artistic legacy. As the day progresses, we return to the enthralling Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This 11th-century fortified settlement entices with its antique charm and architectural beauty. We will spend a pleasant night within the walls of this medieval gem, immersed in the timeless ambiance of Morocco's past.
After a delicious breakfast, we ventured off to tour the spectacular Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. This historical treasure has served as an enthralling setting for a number of critically acclaimed films, including "Gladiator," "Indiana Jones," and "Lawrence of Arabia." We are transported into the world of Moroccan architecture as we walk through its ancient walls, marveling at the gorgeous Kasbahs created with timeless craftsmanship.
Our drive continues towards Marrakesh, passing over the spectacular High Atlas Mountains and the scenic Tizin'tichka pass. We stop for a delicious lunch in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, experiencing the delicacies of the region.
Finally, we wish you farewell and leave you off at your Marrakech riad, remembering this amazing desert journey and the appeal of Morocco's cultural legacy.
